Online Group Therapy

Our video-based therapy groups are typically diverse in terms of race, gender, jobs, parenting, generation and relationship structures.  We find gender groups balanced with many genders are more effective than having one gendered experience represented in group.  What members have in common is a desire to be non judgmental, supportive and to share experiences.   Group is a place to get long-term emotional support as well as problem solve. Members share about the personal impacts of bias including heterosexism, cissexism, racism, and the effect of anti-trans politics. 

Each group starts with a check-in for each member and then we have a group discussion period.

Members attend a free, pre-screening appt, to make sure they are a good fit for each other and the balance of the group.

Both groups are led by Lisette Lahana, LCSW, a white/latine cis gender therapist with twenty years serving the diverse gender community.  Lisette has led many gender therapy groups, LGBT groups and groups for partners.  In addition to gender therapy Lisette has done general mental health work, helping people with anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder and trauma.

Must be a resident of California or Florida and it is preferred that you have access to a local therapist, if needed.  Group members must be comfortable using tech for video meetings, have high speed internet and a private place to meet.  Because you have a reserved slot in the group, your credit/debit card will be billed the night of group, whether or not you have attended it.  You may stop attending at any time.  ​

Can I use a FSA or HSA account to pay for this therapy group? 

Yes.  And, if you have a PPO health plan that covers out-of-network therapy, we can provide you a receipt for reimbursement by your insurance or a record of it as a healthcare expense for tax purposes.

 

Do you accept lower fees? 

Yes, group has multiple lower fee slots for those who cannot afford the full fee.
