We are seeking pre-licensed therapists (who already have a BBS associate number) to be a part of an LGBTQIA+ -focused mental health practice where clinicians provide telehealth services. We welcome therapists who have an interest in working with youth as well as those who have an adult focus. The practice is also open to pre-licensed therapists who enjoy working with polyamorous and/or clients in the kink community. The ideal candidates would build and maintain a full-time caseload of 18+ clients. We are open to employing therapists who are based anywhere in California. We have an in-person site in Oakland, CA. We prefer each of our therapists to run at least one telehealth or in-person therapy group. Therapists building towards full-time can choose to be 100% remote or we will consider establishing a hybrid telehealth/in-person practice in their area.
We are especially interested in hiring associate clinicians as hourly employees, working under supervision, who have a specific interest in providing psychotherapy to gender diverse clients. The practice owner, Lisette Lahana, LCSW (LCS #23663) is a seasoned gender therapist, a WPATH Mentor, and has 25 years of experience serving sexual minorities, transgender, non binary people and their loved ones. You may also be working with other secondary supervisors who specialize in LGBTQIA work. We offer an hour of supervision for up to ten clients (triadic or/and individual). If you see more than ten clients a week, you will receive group supervision for the additional supervision hour. Our practice has an established administrative structure, intake coordinator, social media contractor, and offers competitive compensation. Associate clinicians earn 40% of client fees received, and $20/hr for non clinical hours. As we are a newly established group practice, you’ll have an important role in building our practice’s supportive team culture and professional reputation.
The hourly position can accommodate a full-time position (over 18 client hours), but we will consider part-time associates (minimum 10 hours) . We are primarily a self-pay based practice. Therapists can expect that building a self-pay caseload often take time, as well as the associate’s partnership with the practice’s marketing efforts. We are looking for associates who can commit to staying with us for the duration of time obtaining their licensing hours.
In addition to client hours, associate therapists should expect to dedicate 2-5 hours each week for supervision, documentation, an optional monthly gender-focused consultation group, case management, marketing, staff meeting and/or educational trainings (paid at non-clinical rate of $20/hr). Staff will have a role in choosing monthly educational topics, focused on trans and queer mental health, trauma and evidence based care.
Authentic Alliance strives to provide services to our diverse community in California. We are establishing a team that reflects the identities of the clients we serve. All interested individuals, but especially those who identify as BIPOC, neurodivergent, disabled, transgender, intersex, and/or non binary, are urged to apply. Bilingual therapists are encouraged to apply.
We are a trauma-informed practice and prefer our clinicians to have experience with at least one trauma therapy (Eg. EMDR, Brainspotting or Cognitive Processing Therapy, Somatic Experiencing, Pronlonged Exposure Therapy,or Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy).
You may apply for the position through this google form.
Please pass this on to colleagues you feel might be a great fit.
